Sacred Scraps is a cross-media project. We use mini movies, podcasts, interactive illustrations, maps, data visualisations and process pathways to share stories online and in real spaces.

Our stories follow raw materials from the ground up. They start with how materials are created or extracted, move through the creative work of design, making and manufacturing, and end with how resources can be recovered, re-visioned, reused or recycled.

Today critical minerals, mine closures and the energy transition are reshaping places and impacting communities across Australia and around the world.

Sacred Scraps shows what these developments means for the land, the water and the people who live there. It also shares the ways people are turning what’s left behind into something useful: caring for country and rivers, repairing what’s broken, and making new things from old.
